The Garden of Light and Shadow

"The Garden of Light and Shadow" is a personal documentary about the immigration experience of my Italian-American family. It chronicles the arrival of my grandparents in Philadelphia and the subsequent creation of their wonderful back yard garden. This garden became a focal point for family and community life.

Francesco Muto is a Philadelphia-based filmmaker, editor and media educator. His emphasis in recent years has been primarily on documentaries covering social issues and ethnographic filmmaking.

Amanda Wittenberger is a Philadelphia-based media-maker and a holds an MFA in Film and Media Arts from Temple University. She has worked on numerous projects with various community based media groups in the Philadelphia area.
